As Peak moves towards using the forum much more than previous versions the NYPD has decided to follow suit.


This thread will strictly be for NYPD related announcements. These announcements will be but not limited to:

- Any changes to the structure of the NYPD.
- Any hirings, dismissals, promotions and demotions within NYPD.

Cop Applications

Thank you to over 100 of you who have applied, and those who plan on applying in the next 24 hours. The NYPD has had to make a tough decision in regards to how we will start when New York opens its doors and this is the plan:

• There will be no team aside from myself at the start of Peak and interviews will be held in the first few hours upon release to determine my first team.​
• Those with the best interview scores within their region will be selected and hired within 24 hours.​
• If you are unavailable for the first few hours upon release then you will miss the initial hiring period.​
• Successful applicants will be contacted to confirm their availability in the coming days before release.​

The choice to run with no team to start off was made for a few reasons;

• Users will prefer to use the gym, farm or explore New York to begin with.
• Passive Mode means newer users are safer to do non-criminal activities.
• I want my team to be fairly chosen as opposed to picking users to instantly be a cop.

New York City Laws and Regulations

With this comes a lot of changes in regards to punishments and crime so please read it carefully. Ignorance is no excuse.
The wanted system has changed to minutes as opposed to stars, with a 45 minute maximum jail time being implemented.

As you accumulate charges your wanted time will go up as shown below. Once your wanted timer is over 15 minutes you will no longer be eligible for a ticket and taken straight to jail.

Drugs is also now a collective charge which includes the old UTI, Possession and Supplying charges. This was a change made to streamline the charge and remove charges that were rarely used in previous versions. A drugs charge can now mean either harvesting, using, trading etc and is not stackable.

Just a few rules & law changes before release

Old rule:
No officer will send 999 calls themself - on or off duty, use :ga to communicate with other officers
New rule:
No officer will use :ga off-duty to assist with the arrest of a criminal, please use 999 like a civilian.
No officer will send 999 calls on-duty, please use :ga to communicate with other officers.


Old rule:
No officer will assign Robocop a target who has 2 stars or less. Only 3-star criminals may be targeted.
New rule:
No officer will assign Robocop to a target who has less than 10 minutes jail time. Only those with over 10 minutes jail time may be targeted.


Old rule:
No officer will enter Turfs unless you witnessed the target enter, you must immediately follow them into the area if so.
No officer will charge for crimes witnessed in a turf zone); you are permitted to detain your pursuit only.
New rule:
No officer will enter Turfs (including black-market) unless you witnessed the target enter, you must immediately follow them into the area if so.
No officer will charge for crimes witnessed in a turf zone(including black-market); you are permitted to detain your pursuit only.

These changes were made mainly for clarification purposes, and others were made due to them being outdated in V5.
999/GA rule change was made in fairness of the users to avoid cops snitching in ga whilst off-duty. They must now use 999 so that criminals are aware they are being called in.

Hello New York!

Just want to introduce you to your team as of 23/05/2020 that will be protecting the streets to the best of their ability.
Please keep in mind that times are very busy (over 500 online users!) and our team cannot attend every single call or make the correct judgement every single time; however if you feel you are hard done by feel free to use the COMPLAINT SECTION of the forum!

Also a few more law and rule changes:

Copassault - 6 minutes
This charge now includes hitting Shelly & Phil(jailbreak bots); and Shelly auto-charges cop assault after 3 stuns & autocuff.

Unlawful Logout - 15 minutes
This charge now includes "The officer MUST see the log-out bubble and be in pursuit of you at the time."

Assault - 3 minutes
This charge now includes "Hitting a bot is not considered assault"

EDIT: 23/05/2020

Obstruction - 6 minutes
- Push/pulling an officer currently escorting; or in pursuit of a criminal.

Rule Changes:

- Stardust: Officers are permitted to be on-duty; patrol and arrest in the room in which Stardust takes place. This is a passive event.
- Officers will not attempt or successfully arrest users in the Full Moon, Brawl, Team Brawl etc. rooms
- No officer will use god protection or passive mode on-duty, you are permitted to be passive off duty only
- Officers are still considered in pursuit even if you enter/leave room rapidly ("room juke") them (in regards to turfs)

I have also received a few complaints regarding officers charging for 999 abuse; I have sent a global message to them to refrain from using this charge and to believe civilians as much as possible unless absolutely certain. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of charges deemed to be "unfair"

I will also be drafting an official complaint form to use in regards to posting complaints so please use that!

NYPD Applications open, staff changes, law update​

Hello all,

To start with; a few staff changes occurred within the first few days. Unfortunately Admire, Dior, Animal and kay left us all for separate reasons and we thank them for there time within the NYPD!

We have also introduced Cage as an EU cadet so welcome!

Only the one law change this update;

Copmurder from 9 minutes to 12 minutes

This change was made to make it easier on the NYPD with the 15 minute auto jail rule. Usually copmurder accompanies copassault or another charge of some kind which would accumulate to 15m+ meaning jail regardless. This charge still remains auto-jail if standalone.

In other news: NYPD Applications are now open with priority for NA and AU applicants! EU will also be accepted but not as many!

I implore all people experienced OR INEXPERIENCED to apply as my current team is more than willing to train and help those not familiar with cop commands; or cop in general on roleplay. If you feel like you would like to even learn how to be cop then feel free to apply!

Same process as before, an interview with 7 questions. A minimum of 5/7 to even be considered! So get reading and studying those laws and rules!

Departure & new future
​

Hello all!

It is a sad day for me and a happy day for most of you that I announce this will be my last post as Chief of NYPD! I feel like the framework has been set up for the future of the NYPD in V5. With this comes a new bright future for the NYPD in which Chief Maxima is now unveiled.

He has been taking over a large portion of the senior duties in the past few days anyway and has done an AMAZING job along side the other senior officers! This means Maxima will be the face of all complaints, applications and NYPD related duties as I ride into the sunset.

The NYPD team is stronger than ever, and the future is exciting so I am wishing everyone in the NYPD the best of luck!

Staff rules & law updates​

Hi all,

I am updating a few laws because some things were unclear. I also added some new rules for staff regarding heists, bounty hunters & being in the NYPD HQ.

Law changes
Assault - 3 minutes
Slapping a user is also considered to be assault.

Copassault - 6 minutes
Slapping an on duty cop is also considered to be copassault.

Robbery - 6 minutes
Attacking or killing the shop assistant inside 7/11. If he is shooting you consider yourself wanted.

Staff rules changes
New rules:
No officer will assist a bounty hunter in an arrest.
No officer will stop escorting a criminal to hand it over to a bounty hunter.
No officer will use a flashbang in the presence of a bounty hunter when not in immediate danger.
No officer will go on duty for the purpose of allowing players to heist. If you go on duty while a heist is taking place, you should stay on duty for at least 10 minutes.

Rule changes:
No officer will AFK in the NYPD HQ, please head to the staff room provided if you plan to be off duty.

Changed to:
No officer will be off duty in the NYPD HQ without a valid reason, please head to the staff room provided if you plan to be off duty.

No officer will assign Robocop a target who has less than 10 minutes jail time. Only those with more than 10 minutes may be targeted.

Resignation​

Thanks for the time that Eden and staff gave me to be deputy chief & chief of the NYPD. It wasn't a long ride but I enjoyed the first few weeks of Peak as cop. I always have been a toxic person and some of you might know that from how I behaved on V4. I can ensure you that I changed but the recent events within NYPD made me really frustrated. I started realising how the majority of people on Peak behave, and that I do no longer want to be an active part of that. For once I will be honest again and let you know why I resign and why I leave in this way.

Since the start there have been toxic people in the team which make it their daily task to make people resign. For those congratulations, I do not only resign I also quit Peak because of your behaviour.

Not gonna miss the majority of you but some (and they know who I'm talking about)... I love you.

Practicals
Practicals are underway and applicants who attained a passing score are eligible to get one. You may be contacted but you can also go down to the NYPD HQ and let a Lieutenant know you're ready for your practical. They will more than likely be happy to assist you. Conduction of practicals will cease on Friday July 3 at 11:59 BST. After the deadline, no one will be able to receive a practical, unless the individual is in queue to receive a practical at the time.

No exceptions to any stipulated deadlines, unless stated.

Addition: No officer will share NYPD-specific content (chat logs, spreadsheets, etc) with anyone who is not authorized to view it.

Added: Off-duty officers may enter turfs for the sole purpose of searching a bin, must leave immediately after searching, and will not provide communication about any activity within a turf.
Changed: No officer will use any officer loadout off duty, except the use of their pepperspray and flashbang when in immediate danger. (Note: Officers must be able to prove the immediate danger with screenshots, if reported.)

Miscellaneous note(s)
• Officers can work during Full Moon, they may not arrest players of Full Moon.
• Officers may also use the off-duty loadout exception to assist other officers, if they ask for it.
• Officers unable to prove immediate danger, with screenshots if reported, will be reprimanded.
• Immediate danger: You must be far away from a safe zone and being swung on by a user or users.

RE: Complaints
July 27, 2020

Any complaint that does not follow the prescribed format will be immediately closed and the individual will be asked to resubmit in the proper format. Also, third party reports will not be accepted. Only citizens who have been wronged may complain an officer. Additionally, complaints need to make sense and a rule had to have been broken. If you submit a complaint and a rule was not broken by an officer, then don't be surprised when you're told just that. The NYPD City Laws and Staff Rules are readily and publicly available, therefore there shouldn't be any confusion as to whats a rule and if it's been broken. Finally, if your complaint is closed for any reason other than format and you are not asked to resubmit, do not resubmit.​

Hiring Process

The practical system has been revamped and new scenarios will replace the old ones. Resignation​

I’m glad to have been the longest-serving Chief of this version, surviving 3 non-confidence votes. I’m glad to have been Chief for nearly 2 months, being the second longest-serving manager. I stayed above corruption, while enforcing fairness and equity for all officers and applicants. I know I’ve left the corp in capable hands, and Twist will run a great NYPD. :^)
